The primary intention of the design has been to enhance the experience of this scenic location. The form is reduced to the simplest possible, a horizontally extended, long, narrow rectangle with a pitch roof, carefully placed along the natural platform formed where the forest meet the cliffs.

Villa Lisö fits into the existing built environment with its natural materiality and modest scale. At the same time, contemporary construction technology is used to create a comfortable and energy-efficient living space with an intense contact with nature. The boundary between indoors and outdoors is blurred with the help of large sliding windows.

Crosslaminated timber, wood cladding and hemp lower the embedded carbon. The window dimensions are related to the format of the raw glass to completely avoid spillage.

The materials are carefully selected to be durable and patinize beautifully over time. The facade's is covered with Douglas fir that takes on a silver-gray luster over time, which, like the surrounding buildings, discreetly blends into the trees and mountains. Zinc sheet metal patinizeto a stone-grey matt finish. On the exterior, the surrounding landscape is reflected in the glass, which from the inside frame the moss-covered rocks to the north, the pine forest to the east and the glittering Baltic sea to the west.
